OFFLINE:

If you wish to view the eBook in the animated flipping book format but prefer to download and view offline, click on the ZIP link below. Save the compressed ZIP file to your hard drive and double click to decompress the full folder. In the folder there is a file called: EDC Earthquake Prone Buildings eBook11.html – drag this file directly in to your browser.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

If you have issues with either the PDF or ZIP file, try deleting it and downloading it again.

Please note that the ZIP file is a compressed folder containing everything you need to view the eBook in your browser as an animated flipping book. The files contained in this folder are designed to work on all operating system and most browsers. If you have tried everything below and there are still issues viewing the eBook, please consult your IT administrator. Here are some things you can try first…

1. The ZIP file is about 12.3Mb, so if you have download restrictions you may need to ask your IT administrator to change them to allow larger files.

2. When you drag the file EDC Earthquake Prone Buildings eBook11.html in to your browser, make sure the file is being dragged from a folder that also includes the ‘Collections’ subfolder. The ‘Collections’ subfolder contains all the resources the html file needs to display the flipping book.

3. Make sure you have the latest version of Flash Player installed on your computer. To download the latest version for free, go to: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

4. The downloaded flipping book may not load correctly when opened directly into your browser, due to Flash Player security issues. In order for the flipping book to be displayed and work correctly you need to press the Settings button that opens the Adobe Flash Player Security Settings page. If you do not receive such a warning screen, you may have to open the security settings page yourself; just paste this web address into the address bar of your browser: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04a.html

Once the page opens, you’ll find a Global Security Settings widget inside an Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager window, that allows you to change the necessary settings. Make sure that the Always allow option is selected and open the Edit location box to select the Add location button. In the opened window, select Browse for files and find the file Flip.swf. in the decompressed folder you previously downloaded. For the changes to take effect refresh the opened HTML page inside your browser.
