Junior Structural Engineer – Christchurch

We require a Junior Structural Engineer to join our growing Christchurch office.

You’ll be working alongside design teams, liaising with clients, contributing to the team strategy, running projects, all the while working with a great team full of like minded people.

  • Engineering design including analysis, calculations and design, field work, reporting and report writing;
  • Liaise with clients/contractors;
  • Site inspections;
  • Construction monitoring;
  • Comply with all relevant EngNZ code of Ethics, AS/NZS standards, and behave as a responsible professional engineer;
  • Any other duties the Employer may reasonably require the Employee to perform.

Business Development

  • Client liaison, marketing and networking to ensure client satisfaction, repeat business and identification of new opportunities in the market;
  • Liaison with geotechnical, civil and fire engineering areas of the business to provide a total service solution to clients.


  • To ensure that all work undertaken, and behaviour exhibited is in accordance with appropriate professional and technical standards and in accordance with EngNZ Code of Ethics and AS/NZS Standards.


  • General office duties as required;
  • Possible travel around New Zealand including visits to Auckland and the Bay of Plenty to work for periods of up to 1 week;
  • Any other duties the Employer may reasonably require the Employee to perform.



  • Bachelor of Engineering with Honours BE(Hons) (Civil) or Washington Accord Equivalent.


  • Minimum of 2-year professional experience in Structural Engineering in NZ (preferred), Australia, USA, Canada or Great Britain.


  • Hard working with good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Good working knowledge of computers and relevant technical software;
  • A professional manner when dealing with other consultants, clients and contractors;
  • Good communication with colleagues and others;
  • Good personal organisation skills;
  • Full clean NZ driver’s licence.
